Omaha Storm Chasers split opening series with New Orleans Zephers

April 7, 2016 - Omaha, NE - Cold winter like conditions including unusual high winds greeted the New Orleans Zephers and Omaha Storm Chasers on opening night at Werner Park.  Game time temperature was 54 degrees and winds blowing in excess of 28 mph to right field.

Royals prospect starting pitcher Miguel Almonte started on the bump but exited quickly in the first inning after allowing four earned runs on two hits and walking four Zephers.  Chasers lost 6-3.

The headliner for the weekend series was World Champion Kansas City Royal outfielder Jarrod Dyson who was in town on a rehabilitation assignment.  Dyson saw action in both center and right field.

Storm Chasers finished out the series against the Zephers by bouncing back Friday, winning 6-5 after scoring the game winning run in the bottom of the ninth. Chasers continued with a 11-8 win on Saturday but dropped the series finally on Sunday 7-4.

The Round Rock Express start a four game series with the Storm Chasers on Monday evening.
